Whether you’re shopping for ingredients to prepare that special dinner or you’re in search of everyday items, you’ll find that Dawson’s Market carries all the essentials on your list. From produce and dairy to canned goods and paper products, we’re sure that you’ll leave with fresh, locally produced, environmentally friendly and high quality products that are safe for you. Our market steers clear of artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners, preservatives trans fats and GMOs. We work with local vendors who produce food and other products that fall in line with our high standards.
We are conscious of your food preferences, sensitivities, and allergies. We have clearly labeled food for raw vegans, vegetarians and those who lead a gluten-free lifestyle. Our market is stocked with options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We don’t want the journey from the farm to your table to be clouded with vague processes and unknown ingredients. We want to keep you healthy and in the know.
Our goal is to offer the largest, freshest, and cleanest selection of local and organic produce in the Rockville, Maryland area. Our commitment to local starts within a 100-mile radius from our front door, that encompasses small family farms and growers dedicated to sustainable farming and agriculture. Anything outside of this 100-mile radius but less than 300 miles is labeled as “Regional.”
We’re proud to work directly with Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia farmers to ensure that local products are available to our customers year round, so local farmers can continue to grow and provide us with natural and fresh food. With a growing demand for organic produce, we work closely with our vendors to make sure this quality remains intact. All of our organic produce is audited and certified by a USDA-accredited agent.
Occasionally due to seasonal availability and cost, we offer conventional produce. Conventional produce is always clearly marked and never touches organic produce.
We work with Frontier Organic Co-op to bring you fresh bulk grains, spices, and herbs that are competitively priced and of the highest quality. Frontier Organic Co-op abides by strict environmental and socially responsible standards. They are the leader in organic bulk goods and have passed our test for quality.
Often, we strive to source organic herbs, grains, and spices and always display their country of origin. If you find yourself wanting to know more, our employees are knowledgeable on what we carry and available to answer questions you may have about the products we carry.
We offer incentives when you come into Dawson’s Market with your own container to buy bulk goods. Buying in bulk is one of the best ways to save at our grocery store and allows you to get just the right amount, so as not to have an extra ingredient that you don’t really need lying around.
We love beer, we love wine. We selectively curate for our limited shelf space in order to bring you the absolute best.
Our wine buyers are experts who taste every wine in our store and look at authenticity, varietal correctness, and growing methods first. Every wine they select comes from a terroir with distinct personality. Our buyers balance our wine selection and don’t constrict their tastes to “points” as other wine stores do. Upon request, our buyers are ready to provide you with tasting notes, personal opinions and pairing suggestions.
We never stock mass-produced wines and favor organic, biodynamic wines from family-oriented wineries that boast a strong sense of tradition and history. A key part of our mission is to continue strengthening the bonds with our local producers.
We support our local wine growing industry in a large way and are always expanding our Maryland /Virginia sections. A key part of our mission is to continue strengthening the bonds with our local producers, vineyards and small wineries.
Small-scale, local, regional, and craft breweries get our immediate attention when it comes to selecting beers. We tend to stray from beers with artificial ingredients and fillers keeping in tune with seasonality throughout the year. We love small belgian beers, eclectic breweries, and limited batches.
We know we’re lucky to have some exquisite breweries so close to home. Some of our favorite beers come from only a few miles away. Our employees hold many of these local breweries close to heart and will be quick to point you to a brew from a local vendor.
Dawson’s Market also carries a small selection of larger international labels, gluten-free, and non-alcoholic beers. We pick up a good amount of limited releases and micro-batches as well.
We also offer Beer and Wine by the glass to enjoy in the store or on our Outside Patio. Plus we have beer on tap and offer 64oz Growler refills. This is your opportunity to take home unique beers that are typically only found in bars or at breweries and not sold in bottles. Check out our calendar for upcoming beer and wine events including Winery and Brewery Tours, Tastings, Special Pairings, and Guest Speakers. We also host private events and parties in our café!
Dawson’s Market provides fresh, domestic and local cheeses that are brought to you by small, family-run homesteads who typically own their own herds. This lets them control the entirety of the cheese making process. They are artisan producers that don’t use artificial coloring, dye or flavors and who practice sustainable grazing and cheese making year-round.
Our European cheeses have a rich history of authenticity and tradition that has yet to change. The European producers responsible for these cheeses have centuries-old high standards and are so well established and regulated that purity in their cheese is without question. We tend to work with small production farms whose traditional practices have withstood the test of time.
The gourmet items we stock (chocolates, olives, etc.) are chosen based on popularity, feedback and customer requests. They must always be clean of artificial and synthetic ingredients or we won’t offer them to you. We like to create a balance between providing you with larger gourmet item producers and locally produced, handcrafted goods.
In our HBA Department you can find unique, local and quality products. We often source many of our supplement and body care products from 100 miles or less. Some of our local Artisans even grow their own herbs right in their backyard. Supporting local artisans allows us to give you the freshest, most trusted products in our area while supporting local businesses.

The coffee buyers we work with employ a three-step buying process. First, they consider the origins and ethics behind the beans they find. They make sure they know where the beans are coming from and ensure the ethical treatment of the land and people that are the source of the coffee beans. Thus, we tend to buy from small companies who focus on these matters.
One such company that provides us with a unique brand of regionally roasted coffee is Bump N Grind. We also have a full service espresso menu that includes everything from iced drinks to quad espressos, made with a variety of options.
If you happen to be in the mood for a warm, soothing tea, just ask one of our cafe employees what we have available. We tend to carry several delicious flavors, brought to you by companies like The Republic of Tea.
We know that nothing quenches your thirst and nourishes you more than a fresh organic juice. At our juice bar, you can choose from one of our house-blends or feel free to make your own custom juice using any of the fresh fruits and veggies we have available. We also offer shots of organic wheatgrass you can buy individually or have blended into your juice!
If you’re feeling a bit more frisky, go for one of our smoothies. They’re combined with the best ingredients and blended over organic yogurts and ice. They are one-of-a-kind and amazing, especially on a hot summer’s day. Everything that goes into our smoothies is fresh and made right in front of you.
